The Tiguan eHybrid, as it’s known, shares a powertrain with GTE versions of the Volkswagen Golf and Passat – which means a turbocharged 1.4-litre petrol engine and electric motor, plus a 13kWh battery.
The Tiguan's brake-pedal action is soft and it doesn't match up to the firm, progressive pedals we enjoy in other members of VW's family tree. We haven't driven the refreshed 2022 model yet, but we expect it to match the performance of the 2020 model we tested which required 8.3 seconds to reach 60 mph at our test track.
September 14, 2015 – that’s when Volkswagen unveiled the Tiguan GTE concept at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Better late than never, VW announced a production version only yesterday, and now new spy shots of the electrified crossover have arrived ahead of an official premiere scheduled for later this year.
Inside, the Tiguan will benefit from a redesigned steering wheel and the company's newer MIB3 infotainment system that should bring crisper graphics and increased connectivity options. The sole U.S. version of the Tiguan will remain the long-wheelbase model with an optional third row of seats.

Consumer ratings and reviews are also available for the 2021 Volkswagen Tiguan and all its trim types. Overall, Edmunds users rate the 2021 Tiguan 4.2 on a scale of 1 to 5 stars.
The Tiguan eHybrid is a very relaxing car to spend time in. The ride is smooth and body control is good, while the refined hybrid drivetrain keeps noise to a minimum, especially at low speeds in pure-electric mode.
NOTE: This video is about the 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan, but since the 2021 Volkswagen Tiguan is part of the same generation, our earlier analysis still applies. The all-new 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan is 10.7 inches longer than the 2017 model and now offers an optional third row.
