2021 Volkswagen Tiguan on the road. The Standard trim alone is sufficient enough thanks to a smooth, economical 1.5-litre 130bhp engine that kicks off the range. With a 0-60mph time of 10.9 seconds and combined fuel efficiency of 46mpg, it’s a great all-rounder, however there’s a more powerful 150bhp which is our pick of the bunch.

Far from being just some re-jigging of trim levels and some new paint, the Tiguan’s facelift was pretty significant, giving it a new look inspired by the larger Touareg and introducing both a plug-in hybrid model and a hot R performance variant.
The Tiguan falls into the mid-sized SUV category. Front and rear parking sensors are standard on Life models and up, while a rear view camera is standard on Elegance and above. It can also be specced with Volkswagen's Parking Assistant.
Those figures outrank the BMW X1 (505 litres), Kia Sportage (503 litres), Nissan Qashqai (430 litres) and Renault Kadjar (472 litres). It’s worth noting, however, that models fitted with the eHybrid powertrain lose a large chunk of boot space – bringing that load area down to 476 litres.
Yes, the Tiguan is a good compact SUV. It delivers a smooth ride over most road surfaces, and few rivals have more passenger and cargo space. This Volkswagen also has plenty of standard and available features, and it's one of the few compact SUVs available with three rows of seats. It does have some shortcomings though.
The Volkswagen Tiguan is a compact crossover vehicle (CUV) manufactured by German automaker Volkswagen. Introduced in 2007, the first generation model uses the PQ46 platform of the B6 Generation Volkswagen Passat.
The Volkswagen Touareg (German pronunciation: [ˈtuːaʁɛk]) is a mid-size luxury SUV produced by German automaker Volkswagen since 2002 at the Volkswagen Bratislava Plant. The vehicle was named after the nomadic Tuareg people, inhabitants of the Saharan interior in North Africa.
