Magnetic loop receive antennas are a great weapon in the fight against natural and man-made noise. W6LVP loops cover 2200 through 10 meters (135 kHz through 30 MHz) with no tuning or adjustment. The Small 3 foot diameter loop is naturally stealthy for HOA challenges and a perfect complement for vertical and small wire transmit antennas.

Transmitter uses an Arduino for control, GPS for timing, Si5351 DDS for frequency generation, and a BS170 amp. Actually the “amp” is an attenuator since the output of the Si5351 is greater than 1 milliwatt. Have gotten reports from stations that are 2,500 miles from me or 2,500,000 miles per watt. JT digital technology is amazing.

Jul 24, 2019 . It is pretty simplistic especially compared to my other loops (W6LVP, and Wellbrook ALA1530LN) both of which came in between $250 and $330 respectively. OUCH! Sooooooooo, now the million dollar question. How does it perform? NOT AS BAD AS YOU WOULD THINK. The first thing I noticed was that it was quiet and considerably picking up less RFI than ...

Correction to the video - the null is 27dB, not 42dB. Turns out the IC-7610 S-meter is calibrated at 3dB per S-unit, not 6. Still pretty impressive!

Dec 18, 2019 . Recently, there has been a lot of buzz around the MLA-30 magnetic loop antenna from China because it is being marketed as an active (preamplified) 100 kHz – 30 MHz broadband antenna and only costs about $43 from various sources on the internet.. That is a fraction of the cost of receiving loop antennas from UK’s Wellbrook and W6LVP that can go for as much as $350.

Aug 13, 2017 . W6LVP Loop Trial. After reading many reports about some of the "new" broadband, amplified loops and having had considerable experience with large unshielded tuned loops, and also having a vacation coming up to a coastal area, I thought it might be a good time to spring for one of them and give it a try, especially given the increasing and ...

DX Engineering unfortunately charges quite a bit for new amps and supplies. I've decided to get rid of the pricey PRO-1B and have bought a W6LVP loop at half the cost of the Pro-1B. I've communicated with folks who have bought the W6LVP loop, and they are all happy with the W6LVP loop. The W6LVP loop is scheduled to arrive tomorrow.

W6LVP Mag Loop 6 Month ARRL Field Day Review Time Owned: 6 to 12 months. What could be a better way to participate in ARRL Field Day than with a new IC-7300 and a W6LVP Magnetic Loop Antenna. When I got the loop initially I thought it would only be needed on 40 Meters and below. ARRL Field Day has changed my opinion.

It uses an Amplifier control line or a manual switch to ground the control input for Transmitting and switch over to the Tx antenna. It is great for nulling out noise and interference, especially local noise sources at my QTH on 160 and 80 meters. The 2 main lobes seem to be somewhere between about 90 to 120 degrees in width, and the nulls are ...

Another option often overlooked are portable manual antenna tuners. I’m a big fan of the Emtech ZM-2 which is offered both in kit ($62.50) and factory assembled/tested form ($87.50). It is a manual tuner, so requires manual input to find a match. While it’s not as easy as push-button tuning, it …

The Small 3 foot diameter loop is naturally stealthy for HOA challenges and a perfect complement for vertical and small wire transmit antennas. If your transceiver has a separate receive antenna input or you will be using the loop with a receiver, the version with power inserter is for you.
This now allows me to “feed” the W6LVP Transmit/Receive Switch by selecting the A or B position that connects to the RADIO input on the provided Transmit/Receive Switch. The W6LVP T/R switch “Transmit Antenna” output feeds the SPE Expert 2K-FA input #2 when using the FTDX-10 or any radio that only has 1-antenna input.
The W6LVP T/R switch “Transmit Antenna” output feeds the SPE Expert 2K-FA input #2 when using the FTDX-10 or any radio that only has 1-antenna input. His instructions are straight forward but my application was a bit of a stretch and wanting to protect my investment in the loop from the nearby Transmitting/vertical antenna.
