Using Singlewire's patented IP speaker protocol, IP speakers will attempt to automatically register with your InformaCast server. As long as multicast, DHCP, and SLP are correctly configured on your network, your IP speakers and InformaCast will establish communication.
The InformaCastSpeaker.cfg file is hosted on the InformaCast server. You may need to modify the InformaCastSpeaker.cfg file to add additional configuration for the IP Speakers.
SLP uses a reserved multicast address for the protocol: 239.255.255.253. If multicast is properly configured on the network, the SLP discovery packet will find it’s way to the InformaCast server, and InformaCast will respond to the IP speaker directly with the location of the speaker configuration file.
Singlewire Paging Gateways are used to send the Multicast broadcast audio streams to locations across WAN connections (or other network segments) that don’t allow routing of multicast traffic. Singlewire Paging Gateway units will respond to SLP multicast traffic the same way that the InformaCast server does.
