The objective is to standardize ambient Water Quality monitoring procedures to ensure that Water Quality monitoring programs follow certain Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) protocols and acceptable field methods. The primary users of the WQM manual are the technical staff of the EMB, both the Central and Regional Offices.
The “National Field Manual for the Collection of Water-Quality Data” (NFM) is an online report with separately published chapters that provides the protocols and guidelines by which U.S. Geological Survey personnel obtain the data used to assess the quality of the Nation’s surface-water and groundwater resources.
