Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is the training manual for a water well driller?

The Water Well Driller's Beginning Training Manual is designed for use by Water Well contractors in the training of new men. It reduces to the barest essentials the knowledge a man must have in order to begin to learn how to be a Water Well driller. The article which starts on the opposite page is the first of fifteen chapters.

  • How big is the well casing for a manual pump?

If your well is a deep well, it will probably have a four inch well casing. Besides the water, the only thing that is taking up space in that well casing is the power cord and the hose that is carrying the water to the surface. There’s enough room for the suction hose for the manual pump.

  • What do you need for a water well kit?

The kit includes a complete hand pump for a 25' well, a 4" well screen, 4" cap and a Water Well auger. The list of the other misc. items you need to get from the local hardware store is on our website. Extension pipes for the pump are also available if your well is deeper than 25 feet.

  • What kind of pump do I need to draw water from my well?

If your water level is 25 feet or less below the surface, then you can use a manual well pump to draw water out of it. You’ve probably seen these; the squeaky cast iron pump that was used in the Old West (and other places). You can still get them today for a fairly reasonable price.
