Exactly, the NerdSEQ runs at 24ppqn internally which would mean 6 equal ticks per step. 4 step would usually be a full note (if you set the gate and/or change the note on the first step and stop it after the 4th step) if the groove is all set to 6. Half a note would be set on the first, reset after the 2nd etc..

XOR operation can be achieved with a combination of different logic gates. Boolean expression of XOR is given below. In this expression, we use the sum of Min terms. Min terms are the product of inputs for which output is HIGH state “1”. SOP expression can be easily implemented with NAND gates.
XOR gate also known as Exclusive OR gate is “A logic gate which produces HIGH state ‘1’ only when there is an odd number of HIGH state ‘1’ inputs”. For 2-input gate it can be interpreted as “when both of the inputs are different, then the output is HIGH state ‘1’ and when the inputs are same, then the output is LOW state ‘0’”.
