First, power off the AV Receiver/Sound Bar and TV, disconnect all the HDMI cables, and unplug the power cables. After five minutes, reconnect HDMI cables and power cables. Dec 09, 2019 . All of them had problems connecting to soundbar through ARC. Therefore, it seems to be a compatibility issue for the Samsung system. Samsung support told me that the Yamaha soundbars hadn’t been tested on the TVs yet. I hope Samsung will work on a firmware update to correct this issue.

The HDMI-ARC has no advantage over optical so don't worry about it. Just saves a cable in some cases. The next version of HDMI will have lossless audio over ARC so in the future that won't be the same. I have a LG 55UB850T TV & a Yamaha YAS-207 sound bar. I have connected the pair via HDMI using ARC HDMI 2 on the TV and the ARC HDMI on the Yamaha.
