What began in 1867 as an export store supplying small steel goods and tools has become the epitome of high quality spice and coffee mills. 20 years later the production of coffee knee mills started. In 1904 the foundation for success was laid with the first pepper mills.
In 2000 Zassenhaus invented the first continuously adjustable grinding mechanism made of German high quality ceramics. This makes the Zassenhaus products distinctive and unique. In general, manual coffee grinders take around one minute to grind enough for a big cup. It does take some effort to grind by hand — I’m not going to sugarcoat it. However, flagship models such as the 1Zpresso Jx can grind rather fast. Typically, you’ll be able to grind for 2-3 cups in less than 45 seconds.
Even if you’ve purchased the coffee maker of your dreams, your morning cup of coffee is only going to be as good as the beans you’re using. And the beans you’re using won’t be any good at all if you’re not grinding them fresh.
For Foos, the main reason to go for this instead of the Encore is that the Virtuoso lets you program your grind “by time.” In other words, you can set this to grind for a specific time, turn it on, walk away, and return to beans that are never overground.
