Zlin Aircraft a.s. was founded in July 2009 with a goal to take over the production of the Zlin Aircraft. It bought all the rights to manufacture the current line of the Z-143L, Z-242L and Z-143Lsi as well as buildings, materials and personnel from the Moravan Aviation.
A developed version, the Zlín Z 143 remains in production. After successful production of the Z-26 aircraft family, the Czechoslovak aircraft manufacturer Moravan, began design of a new series of training aircraft, known as the Z-40 family.
Other Zlin Aircraft from the time are crop-dusting Z-37 Čmelák, Reliable all-metal trainers, two seat Z-42/142 and four seat Z-43 and a new aerobatics special Z-50 which was a next generation aerobatics type replacing the Z-26 series in competitions.
The glass cockpit of Z 242 L features NATO standard Garmin G500 avionics suite integrating dual-screen electronic flight display, GRS 77 attitude heading reference system (AHRS), GDC 74 air data computer, GMU 44 magnetometer and GTP-59 OAT probe.
SIMPLICITY AND POWER The ZLIN Z 242 L GURU training and fully aerobatic two-seat aircraft demonstrates a good balance between usefulness and superb flight capabilities. It is the result of challenging the ideas and experience of both pilots and engineers to deliver a pleasant and purposeful, yet safe flight experience.
As a follow-on and replacement for the successful Zlín Trener series of tandem aerobatic trainers, Moravan developed a new family of light aircraft, featuring a side-by-side seat layout, and comprising a two-seat trainer, the Zlín Z 42 and a four-seat trainer/tourer aircraft, the Zlín Z 43.
(ECA - Entreprise de construction aéronautique) Algerian licence production of the Z 142, first flown in 1993. The aircraft is popular with flying training organizations. One of the largest fleet operators is Sault College of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada, which operates twelve 242Ls.
A developed version, the Z 142, is the most popular aircraft variant in the manufacturer's aircraft line. Zlín Z 42M, tail number SP-AKE (nr 0170). The aircraft were built by Moravan Aviation, founded in 1934 by Tomáš Baťa in Czechoslovakia .
