Zlin Aircraft a.s. was founded in July 2009 with a goal to take over the production of the Zlin Aircraft. It bought all the rights to manufacture the current line of the Z-143L, Z-242L and Z-143Lsi as well as buildings, materials and personnel from the Moravan Aviation.
Built by Zlin Aircraft a.s. (formally Moravan a.s.) in the Czech Republic, the aircraft comes from a long line of famous aerobatic and military aircraft dating back to the 1930's. Visit https://www.zlinaircraft.eu/en/Aircraft/Z-242-L-Guru-en/ for further information on the Z 242 L "Guru".
The 1992, serial 0651, Zlin 242L (ICAO Z-42) is a 2 seat aerobatic trainer designed for both the civilian and military training market. It is fully certified in Europe, Australia, Canada, USA and many other countries. Note: this aircraft was built in 1992 but somehow I cannot ammend the incorrect 2003 listing on the plane sales website.
Other Zlin Aircraft from the time are crop-dusting Z-37 Čmelák, Reliable all-metal trainers, two seat Z-42/142 and four seat Z-43 and a new aerobatics special Z-50 which was a next generation aerobatics type replacing the Z-26 series in competitions.
Founded in 1934 as Zlínská letecká společnost, a. s. (Zlin Aviation company), by Zlín-based company Bata, it started to produce glider and single engine aircraft trainers. Later production expanded to segments of sport and agriculture aircraft.
A developed version, the Z 142, is the most popular aircraft variant in the manufacturer's aircraft line. Zlín Z 42M, tail number SP-AKE (nr 0170). The aircraft were built by Moravan Aviation, founded in 1934 by Tomáš Baťa in Czechoslovakia .
In 1999, production moved to the Czech Republic and since that time has been carried out by the aeronautical manufacturer Zlin Aviation S.R.O. employing the best aeronautical materials from the USA, Italy and France, and the most competent and specialized workforce.
The Savage went into production in Italy between 1997 and 1998. The idea was to create an aircraft with good handling and STOL characteristics, with classic and well proven design and traditional construction that would be economic and easy to build and repair.
