The Zorki-2, 2-C, C , and 5 cameras do not use the lever type rewind selector found on the earlier FED and Zorki cameras. The Zorki-5 appears to have the rewind selector in approximately the position of the shutter release on the earlier cameras, and which probably must be held down while rewinding the film.

The Zorki 1 is a rangefinder camera, meaning that it uses a rangefinder device, coupled to the lens to ensure accurate focusing. Unfortunately, just like the original Leica II, it’s a two-step process, as the rangefinder isn’t coupled to the viewfinder, that’s why you get those two round eyes and the viewfinder in the middle.

The Zorki 1 is an old camera indeed. nothing is easy, automatic or uniform. Everything is old, heavy and fully manual. I don’t want to report about the technical details here nor want to tell much about the Zorki’s history.
The Zorki 1, just like the Leicas (oh yes, not just the first models), uses a peculiar loading system, called bottom loading. There is no conventional hinged door, so you can’t comfortably put the film cartridge into the film chamber and insert the tip of it into the take-up spool.
A Word of Warning: The Shutter speeds on these cameras must never be adjusted unless the shutter is cocked. Failure to observe this may cause the shutter to malfunction for several frames, or cause damage to the shutter.
Introduction: There are very few major differences between the cameras, as far as the user is concerned, but an attempt will be made to provide instructions for the variants where appropriate. A Word of Warning: The Shutter speeds on these cameras must never be adjusted unless the shutter is cocked.
