The kit went together very smoothly and KE1EL put thought into the order of assembly. Follow the order and the kit building will be a smooth experience. Take your time building the unit, it's not a race as certain components such as USB connector, 1/8 jack and 4 way RCA jack should be mounted with care.
I ordered the 3rd generation IC from K1EL. It’s a simple and easy upgrade. Remove the four screws on the Winkeyer cover being careful of the attached wires. This shows up even more at higher speeds such as you would find in a CW contest. Winkeyer replaces PC generated Morse and produces perfectly timed elements at speeds up to 99 WPM. In addition, WinKeyer provides an optical isolation between your PC and radio to prevent ground loops and electrical noise problems.
