  • Which winkeyer firmware is compatible with my k1el?

    A new version of WinKeyer firmware has been released. It is compatible with any K1EL WinKeyer that has a WK 3 IC. This applies to WKUSB and WKmini but not WK3serial.

  • Can I upgrade my winkeyer2 to a winkeyer3?

    Yes, if you have Winkeyer2 it can be updated to Winkeyer revision 3.1. I was recently given a Winkeyer2 by a friend, NQ4A, so I decided to upgrade it to a Winkeyer3. I purchased a new IC chip from K1EL. This is a simple hardware upgrade. I’ll tell you how I did mine below. Coming soon: Winkeyer and Ham Radio Deluxe using the Icom radios.

  • What's new in the winkeyer firmware?

    A new version of WinKeyer firmware has been released. It is compatible with any K1EL WinKeyer that has a WK 3 IC. This applies to WKUSB and WKmini but not WK3serial. RTTY Transmit has been added. This provides a hardware RTTY UART that is accurate and stable.

  • How do I upgrade to 3rd generation IC from k1el?

    I ordered the 3rd generation IC from K1EL. It’s a simple and easy upgrade. Remove the four screws on the Winkeyer cover being careful of the attached wires. You’ll see the IC chip on the PCB (circled in white above). Carefully pry the IC chip (circled in white above) out of the socket. I used a small flat blade screw driver.
