If the lock still has the original S&G factory default settings, you can open the lock by entering a PIN position and PIN Code, which makes up an 8-digit User code, followed by the # key. To open the lock, use the factory setting for PIN position 10, with PIN Code 101010. Enter: 10101010 #. Lock opens.
There is a "111" sticker on the lock to remind users. The dialing sequence of the S&G Model 2740B lock is left-right-left-right, however, the dial can be rotated more than one revolution for entry of any combination number in case you overshoot the desired number.
Operation of the S&G Model 2740 lock is much like the operation of their S&G 2937 mechnical lock. The dialing sequence is left-right-left-right, with at least four complete revolutions to the first number, stopping on the third rotation on the second number, and stopping the second rotation on the third number.

Insert the dial’s spindle through the safe door and lock. Thread the spindle into the drive cam until the lock dial is snug in its ring and the drive cam is snug against the wheel post of the lock. Mark the spot where the spindle first projects through the drive cam.
A U8 change key is required to change the combination. If you do not have a change key please contact your safe manufacturer or one of our distributors to purchase one. 1.
